Rashod Taylor in MFAH’s Permanent Collection

Congratulations to Rashod Taylor whose Little Black Boy series was acquired by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Three photographs from Taylor’s ongoing project have entered the MFAH’s permanent collection. Taylor uses the frameworks and methods allied with the history of fine art portraiture to contemplate his own family’s narrative within contemporary America.

As we rededicate ourselves, we keep true to the nature of currents that have carried us, endurance through flexibility and growth through change. So do we hold-true to the only constant we may control, our philosophy. We acknowledge the power of this moment with an exhibition, Time in two directions. Planned for this fall, the exhibition will celebrate our past, feature recent discoveries, and foreshadow new directions of intention.

Tatiana Parcero in MoMA's Permanent Collection

Congratulations to Tatiana Parcero, whose early work, Cartografía Interior #36, 1996 has been accepted into the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art in New York. An honor for any artist, this news is especially meaningful for Parcero, who studied in New York. The photograph was a gift of collector Helen Kornblum in honor of curator Roxana Marcoci. This work from Parcero’s Cartografia Interior series was executed as the contemporary Mexican photographer was completing her education at New York University / International Center of Photography.

Rashod Taylor Exhibits at Colorado Photographic Arts Center

Rashod Taylor’s Little Black Boy was selected for inclusion in Reflecting Voices , an exhibition at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center. This 3-person show is being presented as part of the Month of Photography (MoP) Denver Festival, a biennial event that celebrates the art of photography with exhibitions and related programming through the region. In a curatorial statement, Johnston describes the Reflecting Voices exhibition as part of an ongoing effort by CPAC to “amplify the voices of underrepresented artists .”
