This limited-run monograph by Matt Eich is the last of four volumes to be published by Swiss-based Sturm & Drang. This extended photo-study belongs to the Artist’s greater oeuvre, The Invisible Yoke. It follows Carry Me Ohio, released in 2016, followed by Sin & Salvation in Baptist Town (2018) and The Seven Cities (2020). Drawn from images made over the course of 12 years, We, the Free departs from the pattern of previous books, which were more tied to singular place, and documents the vastness of the American condition under late capitalism.
